I want a waterbuffalo for Christmas

I think it is weird how Christmas has become so camerical over such a short amount of time. Here in America we want I-pods and clothes and money, but in some poor countries around the world, those things don't mean a thing to them.

There are places in Asia that are wishing for a water buffalo for Christmas. To people here in America we would think that they are crazy. What can a water buffalo possible mean for theses people. To them, a water buffalo means transportation, food, something to drink other than water ,and a new life.

There is an organization that I was introduce to at a concert called Gospel for Asia that give theses people who are struggling a new chance at their life. This group of people have brought faith and hope back to a land that has been devastated by poverty and hunger. K.P. Yohannan has changed the lives of thousands of people all over Asia.

The thing about this cause is that we can all do our part to help even if we don't have a lot of money through this tough economic time. You can just pray for these people or even tell your friends about them. A little bit can go a long way. Think about these people when you are doing your holiday shopping this year and do what you can to end poverty all over the world.

Haiti, the Story of the Unknown Children

Most people know the story of Africa and Iraq using child slaves but what people might not know is that Haiti, the island paridise, has a dark side to this slavery around the world. 24% of children ages 10 to 14 work without pay. They work as street traders, and for sexual reasons. 250,000 to 300,000 children work, 80% of whom are female and 20% are males. This to me is very distrubing. These children are taken from their families and sold into servitude while thousands of vacationers relax and rest while these kids work up to 12 hours a day.

We are not going to ignore this any longer. An organization called Restaveks is trying to solve this delima that is occuring all around Haiti. These children are the faces of this tragedy:

Some of these children do survive like a boy called Cielo but unlike him who made it, there are thousands like this girl who are still in servitude.

10% of the total Haiti children die because of malnutrition before age of 4.This in my book is not acceptable. So do these organizations and they are doing something about it, they are saving these kids.

Here is a list of just a few organizations:

W e don't know what their living arrangements are or what these kids even make but all we know is that we must help them because they are just kids who are in desperate need of a better and kinder world they are living in so please, help one of these kids today.

Why Children?

At the begining of making this blog, I never stopped wondering why children. Why is it that they have to part of the cruelty and misdomenor of this ugly world? I am a christian and in the bible it says that we are the children of God. If we are the children of God then why is our children being treated with such cruelty and demis?

If we love these children so much, then why are there others who think it is OK to punish these children who have done nothing? Some people say that it is for the economy and some others say that it doesn't matter and that we should not get involved with this. I personally believe that there is no excuse for mistreating a child who has done nothing wrong and have been kidnapped from their family and friends and put into a hole which there is no escape.

There are those people who do not worry about these children and forget that these children are around and are trying to break free from which they are trapped like mice. They have no hope and no future. These people who are unaware of this problem are countries who do not wish to see these children hurt. When these people are ignoring the child slaves, they are saying that there is nothing wrong in this world and that we should not bother with helping others.

Then there are some people who have the courage to stand up for what they believe is right. They stand for the freedom of these children and other slaves in the world. They are people like Grace Hanley and Craig Kielburger who have decided to put matters in their own hands and do something about this. Craig is the founder of freethechildren.com, a non-profit organization who only belief is to save children.

I believe that as human beings, we must protect these children that there are on earth and end slavery once and for all. We have to make sure that these children never witness this type of evil ever again.

Bloody Old England

England is the only country who has a queen that still reigns today and they plan to keep it that way. The only thing that they have not change is their royal family but what does a royal family mean if they can't even keep up with the times.

They believe that it is OK to have child slaves in their country and that no one will notice. Well guess what England, we have found out about your dirty deeds. This is simply bloody ugly. The world has been paying attention to the upcoming Olympics and the USA's presidential elections but that does not give you the right to turn your backs and treat your children like dirt. Why does it seem that every step that the world goes forward in technology, the stronger countries seem to fall ten steps back in human rights. As we look around the world at the poorest countries and the mistakes that they have made, we do not see the stronger and richer countries making the same mistakes. England , you have made some huge mistakes.

Why is it that you have to take children from other countries to do your dirty deeds? Is it because you are cowards or is it because you don't want your good image of being such a fantastic country to be ruined? When I looked up your statistics, it seems that I can't find any information about your child slaves that you use in sweet shops. It is amazing to see what type of money you think that these innocent children are worth these days. You sell children into a life of misery and neglect for the low low price of 3,000 pounds. In the United States, we call this illegal but we still do it. When we see strong countries, we believe that England is one of those countries but from what I have learned, I believe that you are all cowards.

When children think of England, they think of the story of Peter Pan, who saves Wendy from growing up. To a lot of kids in England, I bet they are thinking that Peter pan will save them any minute. I guess they are wrong to believe that someone will save them from the chaotic life that they live. These children have no faith, trust ,or even a sprinkle of pixie dust to save them. All they have is their lives to be thankful for.

I guess that we have to be thankful for what we have. As we evolve in our world of technology and fast food restaurants,we are always wondering what life would be like without our items that we have everyday. Th way we think of the world around us will change in a couple years but human kindness or cruelty will never change.

We must act in kindness instead of cruelty. One of the ways to do this is to help these children in these countries is by protesting the things that are made. Look at how Nestle was protested in the 1970's for the baby formula that they sent to Africa. This is an effective way to change the world around us. We must protest major corporations that use force labor so that they can be one top of the corporate ladder.

England,we are going to change you from bad to good. The ways that we are going to change you are going to be drastic but they are necessary. There needs to be changes or the country will fall

World of Child Slavery Quiz

This was a quiz to see how much you know about the world issues that I have just touched so far in this blog. As we explore the world of slavery, we see tons of statistics and we don't really which ones are true and which ones are false. As we go on with our lives , we don't realise that there are:

  • 73 million children in the world who are slaves between the ages of 10- 14 years old.
  • 44.6 million of these 73 million children are in Asia alone( that is 13 percent of the world's children slaves.)
  • There are 496,000 children who are slaves in Bangladesh.

These are just some of the unimaginable statistics that we see in the world around us. We are so engross with our technology and our sports that we don't even see that these people are suffering for things that we use every day of our lives. Out of 6.6 billion people in the world, 73 million of those people are slaves . We are pretty selfish and so power hungry that we don't see that there are others less fortunate than we are.

Africa is one of the poorest Continent in the world yet we do nothing about it. A group of people called the Community Treks and they are doing something about this problem. They take suitcases full of medical things and take it down to Africa. To keep this stuff safe, they slip officials in Africa money so that they can bring this medical merchandise to people who really need it. This is just an amazing organization who does not wait around all day watching people die of medical diseases that we have cures for, they take action and really help these people out.

There are organizations like this in the world that we need to be a part of. Oprah Winfrey is a great example of this.Oprah has traveled to Africa and have created a school for girls so that they can be able to make choices to change their lives. They have 60 school made in 13 countries. That have saved the lives of thousands of kids around the world.

As a spectator of the evils in this world, I believe that we can change the world that these kids live in. If we can change one child's life, we are doing a lot of good. I challenge you all to just go to these websites and try to donate either your time or money to helping these kids.

China, What is Your Problem?

China, the country that has been around for centuries, has decided to keep their ways. From traditions with their heritage to their feelings about Tibet. Now they have decided to do terrible things to their children, force them to be slaves. As a kid myself, I have seen horrible things in Africa but never like this. They are not only making kids who are poor work but, the children who are seeing the child slaves work. This is really revolting to me. Who knows, next they might want to target the children who came to see the Olympics in Beijing. This has got to stop now.

With the sudden outburst of protesters of the Olympics in England, France, and the United States of America, I would like you to think about what will happen to the children who are working to make the souvenirs to sell during the Olympic games. Yes that is right, China is using force labor to make the souvenirs that they are going to sell during the Olympic games. They are forcing children as young as 12 to make the souvenirs for this year's Olympic games.Imagine we are putting our money in to see the work of the Chinese children.Recently, Chinese police rescued 168 people from slavery. This is ridiculous.

As the Olympics are fastly approaching, American politics are desperately begging President Bush to boycott the Olympics but he won't.If we never sent a President to a foreign country for the opening ceremonies, why should we start now? If we went to the Beijing Olympics , all we would see are the faces of these children in our dreams.

One of these heartbreaking stories is of Su Jinduo and Su Jinpeng, a brother and sister who during Chinese New Year in Quindao, they were kidnapped.A couple of days later, Su Jinduo ran away and told his father where they were working and rescued Su Jinpeng. This is crazy that children are being kidnapped off the streets to work as slaves. There are real perverts who would do anything to get the children for workers. They would even trick the children on feild trips.

China has some major issues so if we want to go to the Olympics, they better fix it or else. The Chinese officials are so weird that they think that this idea of using child slaves will actually work. We have found about this and we are going to do something about it. With France, England, and San Fransisco are protesting the Olympics, we are showing China that this is not OK. We are saying No to your ways of terror and to the destruction of Tibet. China, you have no rights to hold your people prisoners.Child slavery in China is not right. There are people in the Shanxi Provience who are trying to help get bricks ready for the Olympics. This is the back doors of Beijing and the Chinese officals are not really worried about it.This is just wrong in my opinion. They are using forced labor for to get the olympics ready. This is what China is doing to their people.
This is showing us that China is so not ready to host the Olympics any time soon. They are cowards who hide behind the force labor of their people to make their cities and to make their statistics go through the roof. Without these people, China would be a low class country who uses others to do their bidding. China is afraid that someone is going to find out about this and expose this communist country for what it truely is, a weak ,pathetic country who never wants to get their hands dirty. This is just like the French Revolution, the French government were so power hungery that they dismantled their people and the people revolted against them and soon after, gain their independence. The Chinese people need to do the same thing, even though their government is very strong, they can take them down and be rid of the communist community once and for all. We need to help them before China takes over Tibet and their people's own free will or we are looking at another powerful country whose only propose is to take control of other countries like Great Britian did when America was still the 13 colonies. Freedom for Tibet and the Chinese people who are in slavery.

America,Land of the Free?

When we think of America, all we ever think about is how free we are and that we are an independent country. I am here to burst your bubble because America is not free to immigrants and others who are desperately poor. This is ridiculous. We are one of the strongest countries in this world and we can't even help our poor families out with money. Instead, we send our children to work in chili fields of New Mexico to the sweat shops in New York. Around the United States, 16 of our 50 states think that it is OK to let child slavery run its coarse through us like it did with the African Americans during the Civil War. This is very low for a country who is partially connected to technology and music. We should be ashamed of ourselves. We can't take a measily minute to look out our own front door and see that this world and our country is not perfect.

From presidential elections to the possible recession that are on our front door knocking to get in, we don't even see that we are falling into a time in the world that will destroy everything that we hold dear. The American public needs to see what their products are really made of. What goes into the things that we use every day? I can answer that question in two words, child slavery. When we are worrying about our own technology, people are starving and we can't even help them out

Imagine these poor children working in the fields for a chance at freedom. If they were still in Mexico or their home countries, they might have had a better life. These children need their freedom so will you help save one today by adopting a child who needs love and protection? An example of this is the story of Angel Oliveras(age 4) who works in chili fields that are taller than her in New Mexico. Another child like Angel is Vielesee Cassell( age 13) working in a sweat shop in Texas making dresses. In fact, there are 10 of thousands of children who are working as slaves in America right now. These are the kids that need all the help that they can get. You can go to websites like stopchildrenslavery.com and anti-slavery.org. Help these children, do not stand aside and let injustice like these go unpunished. Save them and together we might make America land of the free again.

What is Child Slavery?

What is child slavery? Child slavery is just like any other type of slavery but it is selling children to slavery so that the parents or guardians can have money to support them and the rest of the family. Child slavery, like any other type of slavery, is illegal and should be abolished forever. The children that have been in this situation and are dying to make material objects that we take for granted every day know nothing but slavery. But if you think that this issue is in the past, you are sadly mistaken. Children as young as 3 years old working in harsh and unbearable condition around the world.

Here is something to think really hard about:

These are the faces of the children who work hard to make clothing and buildings for the government and around the world . What we take for granted, these kids work hard to harvest or create. For example, have you ever thought about where chocolate comes from? Chocolate is harvested by children in the Ivory Coast and if the children refuse to work, their feet are cut with razor blades and they are whipped within an inch of their lives. The huge shocker about this is that companies like Hershey and Nestle buy this chocolate! They use the products that these innocent children harvest every day to make their fortune. A simple way to help the kids in the Ivory Coast is to use chocolate that is not a brand name because probably all the chocolate from a brand name is made with child slavery.

If you are a parent and have young children at home, just think, what do you do for your children? You don't sell them to slavery but you do pay them an allowance that they earn. You may not be poor but you do share the same bond with these parents, you would do anything to survive life. Unlike you, they do not get a second job, they decided to sell their children like they are material possessions. Iqbal Masih was just a normal kid until his father sold 4 year old Iqbal to a weaver for 12 dollars. 12 dollars! Iqbal worked there for 12 hours a day until he was 10 years old. At 10 , Iqbal decided to run away and tell people around the world to help end slavery. When he returned from his trip, he was riding his bike with his friends in Pakistan and was shot. Iqbal was only 12 years old.

How can we stop this stuff from happening to innocent children around the world? In this blog, I will explain how you can help kids like Iqbal all over the world. Here is a little help: when Iqbal was in America, Craig Kielburger heard about his story and decided to help out. He created an organization that helps these kids out. Today, he has been all over the world promoting to save the children. His website is : http://www.freethechildren.org/

This is just one of the many organizations that save these innocent children from slavery. Do your part today and help a child in a foreign country get out of the situation that they are at today.
